I've been rereading this series purely out of nostalgia as this was one of the series I grew up loving.
This one was significantly better than the first one in my opinion, but that may be because it was written in much clearer prose (which I can see why this was purposeful as Jacky is growing up and becoming more civilized).
It's definitely just a fun series and while Jacky is definitely a bit annoying with her whining sometimes, she's just a fun, jaunty character and it's a series that moves quickly keeping you guessing what'll happen next -- even though I've already read it before!

This book is amazing!
Jacky is attending a boarding school for young ladies but of course she experiences trouble and hard ship, from a crazy minister, attempting to rid the world of the devil by murdering girls, her money being stolen, and becoming a servant at the same boarding school that she was a student at.
Amazing! Every teen should read this series!

I enjoy this book. It amazes me that Meyer can go from writing a gritty novel about ship's lore to a story about the same young woman attending a boarding school and succeed at both, but he has. I love his style of writing, as well as his characters.
