The rhyming is really funky. I have no idea how to read this aloud. Also, what is with the title? Kate is mom, but there are two children: Nate and Maddie, who is just as much a part of the story as her brother but got completely cut from the title!
I love the endpages. I wish the whole book was colored like they are with two color spreads. Still, I like the simple, retro style of the illustrations and the bright color scheme. I want someone to redecorate my house to match this color scheme!

I have to admit: at first I was tsk-tsking this mama for running late. Midway through my daughter was laughing out loud and I was, too. By the end we were both laughing when we realized what had really happened. Surely, the ending is something everyone can relate to have happening to them at one time or another. This is a fun family book!

A story about a hurried morning. The flow of the story is a little off for me since the mother is referred to both as Kate and as the mother and the text does not always have a solid rhythm.
