If Pynchon and Barth had written a Simpsons episode together. Funny and profound, before it got repetitive. Repetitive before it got weird.

I was enjoying the existential dilemmas until the last few chapters. It felt like the author lost focus when the nuns came in. Without the nuns, would’ve given this a four.

Reread this to watch the show. In my opinion this books reads very slow, but the characters, the ways they speak and see the world, and the world they live in seems so familiar and simultaneously dar away you can't help but continue reading. An interesting read for those looking for a more recent classic, but not too recent. Excited to see what they do with the show, considering the depressing plot but funny dialog and descriptions.

The power of the dead is that we think they see us all the time. The dead have a presence. Is there a level of energy composed solely of the dead? They are also in the ground, of course, asleep and crumbling. Perhaps we are what they dream.
May the days be aimless. Let the seasons drift. Do not advance the action according to plan.
