This was my second Colleen Hoover book, and I was not disappointed. It was so easy to read, and once the climax began, it was hard to put down. I expected to cry, but I didn’t; that’s fine, though. The ending was satisfying, and I found myself quickly falling in love with the characters. My favorites were Sara and Pepper Jack Cheese (I’m such a sucker for animals). The plot twist was unexpected for me but that’s Colleen for you 😂.
Spoiler I also really liked that she showed the complexity of Samson’s life and the motives for his crimes
Side note: the cover is absolutely gorgeous; props to Murphy Rae.

This is by far one of my favourite Colleen Hoover books. TikTok needs to hype this one up instead of Ugly Love. There’s an actually decent love interest in this one.

Absolutely LOVE Samson and Beyah. They were so freaking adorable. Makes me want my own summer thing 😞.

I’m so glad that the plot twist of this book didn’t reveal that Samson was some heartless criminal.
SpoilerYeah, he went to jail, but only because he was trying to survive for SEVEN YEARS. How are you sending someone to jail for trying to survive????????

The way Beyah waited for him was so cute and their reunion at the end was so precious. It actually had me tearing up.

Because Beyah and Samson were so cute, it made me over look the fact that Samson is blond. That’s three blond book boys I like now.

THAT MOMENT BETWEEN BEYAH AND HER DAD. OH MY GOD, I WAS HOLDING BACK TEARS 🥲🥲🥲. My daddy issues really pulled through.

This book is literally the epitome of summer vibes. Everyone should read it during the summer.

oh my gosh. i just finished this book and it was absolutely amazing, just like all of colleen hoovers books have been so far. not quite as crazy as others like her book It Ends With Us but still one of my new favorite books. i 100% recommend it although like her other books there is some smut and a lot of kissing but again not nearly as bad as books like It Ends With Us or Ugly Love. great book :)

This was such a lovely story about two people who have known deep loneliness.

Often times as I'm reading love stories I feel like there is not enough to convince me of a connection between the characters. That was definitely not a problem here. Samson and Beyah connected in so many ways, more than they even realized at first. It was like an unspoken kinship that they were able to sense - which is honestly kind of hard to pull off.

Samson turned out to be one of my favorite male leads of all time. Obviously I am in love with a strong, mysterious, silent type... but what was revealed about his past made him so much more interesting than I ever expected.

The only thing this book was missing for me was MORE. I would have loved to have heard more from Samson directly about his past and how it affected him as a person. There's a lot that can be assumed and is reflected in Beyah's story, but I thought it was so interesting that I really wanted more of it (knowing it would have probably been extremely sad).

I also (for ONCE) wished we got more with the side character's in Beyah's life. I truly loved her relationship with her step-sister Sara and thought there was a lot that could have been explored with how that relationship helped Beyah grow and heal from her past. Same with her relationship with her father and Alanna obviously. Then again, maybe I cared about the side characters as much as I did for once *because* it left me wanting more. I see you Colleen, I see you.

The third book of Hoover’s I’ve read in the past year and I am always surprised by how different each new book is from the last. This book explores poverty and addiction in a raw and thoughtful way. The characters are hugely flawed but hard not to love. The story is unbelievable but not. I loved it and think it’s an underrated novel by Hoover.
