After becoming the batboy for the Detroit Tigers, other parts of Brian’s life are not so great. His mom and dad are divorced, and his dad, a former major league player, lives in Japan. Brian is looking for a relationship with his father and hopes that his job as a batboy will bring them closer.

My ten year old loved it, and I quite enjoyed it, as well.

I read this for our middle school battle of the books competition. I have to admit to skimming some of the detailed paragraphs where it's a play by play of the game. Although I love baseball, I didn't enjoy reading these parts. The story overall was good.

I give this 2 stars, one son gives it 3, and my baseball loving kid gives it 4 stars, so it averaged out at 3 stars. We listened to this audiobook across the Midwest and it is all you could ask for in a kids’ sports book, lots of play by play action.

Good summer baseball book. Cliche at parts (okay, most of the time), but enjoyable.
