Heartbreaking story about friendship and trust… two friends who grew up together but are from two different worlds…

I made the mistake of seeing the film before I read the book which meant I got a bit bored by the book as I knew what was going to happen.

Still enjoyable though.

Heart breaking book. This makes me cry whenever I think about it. It's about redemption and second chances but also friendships, family, love and the consequences of War on innocent people and civilians, its so well written, and the emotions are tender and raw. Khaled Hossenei has a wonderful way of portraying difficult subjects with care and affection. Absolutely a must read.

The book is so well-written and is a work of art. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars was how the story traumatised me for 3 whole days…when there’s still almost a 100 pages left, everything falls into place and I knew that it wasn’t gonna stay that way. When I tell you I DREADED going through those pages.

Such an incredible book. I will absolutely reread it. Beautifully written with so many twists and turns. You truly get attached to the characters , their pain is your pain, their joy is your joy. If i could i would give this book 6 stars.

I wanted to read this now that I’m not being forced to for a high school class and I’m really happy I did. While I can understand the importance of reading this kind of literature in high school, a lot of the nuances and subtleties were lost on me. The world was a lot more black and white, and I struggled to really feel anything for Amir. As an adult, I feel like I could really appreciate the layered concept this book brings to its audience.
