I can’t believe this book sat on my shelf for <i>two years</i>! Two. Whole. Years. I love this book. I love it. I love it. I love it. 

I’ve always wanted to understand those of a disability, especially those who use sign language. I feel like life is so much harder for them and I completely sympathize with that. I want to understand how they feel how they go about life how they communicate, and in this book it describes everything they go through 🫂 just what I wanted to feel. 

The way this relationship worked out even through the hardship was so inspiring, and made me so emotional 🥹 I love them so much. 

I can’t get enough of this book. I think I might do a reread soon because this book is constantly on my mind, I read it about two months ago and I still think about it till today. It’s what consuming my mind all the time.😩

I absolutely loved the beginning. I really thought it would be a 5 star read for me, but stuff happened that just turned me off of it. The vibe just completely changed almost halfway through. As much as I liked the characters and unique storyline, some of the angsty plot points involving Archer I strongly disliked. They were understandable, considering the context...but I didn't enjoy reading them at all. I actually had to skim some chapters to get through it. He got over his debilitating trauma way too fast and the ending felt kinda rushed.

 Overall, it was a beautiful story. I really loved the fmc! One of the most likable main characters I've read in a long time. And some plot twists were great! I didn't see a lot of things coming and I appreciate that in a book:)

4 stars to be specific. this book isnt romance with trauma, its TRAUMA in capital letters with a tiny sprinkle of romance in small caps and font + italicized, and speaking as a weakass non-angst lover, i adored it like a masochist. as i said before, the writing style was a bit hard to get into and had me very skeptical at first, but it did grow on me and im so glad i kept reading. this was a genuinely heartwearming and inspiring love story about two traumatized people who didn't just "fix" each other by being in love, but rather gave one another the tools to pick both of themselves back up, and build the happy ending they both undoubtedly deserve. archer and bree go on the list of characters who i connected with so well and am so proud of to a point where i almost feel like they're real and i know them personally. they deserve the world, i will remember their story fondly. oh, and victoria hale can die in a ditch. thank you.

Loved how the story unfolded! Archer deserves the world.
It's not as gut-wrenching as I thought it would be and the end was a little bit to foreseeable for me with the

shooting and everything.

Very solid read though

I wanted to love this book — there were aspects of it with a lot of potential but I think Mia Sheridan missed the opportunity to make this book truly amazing. 

The clear lack of understanding or knowledge on Deaf culture really bothered me. It was evident that the author had extremely limited understanding of *sign language* although it was a central component of the story. This could have been a great opportunity to bring deeper understanding to the Deaf community with the unique premise. Honestly choosing a compelling topic & not researching enough to accurately portray it is so lazy & one of my absolute biggest pet peeves with any plot (book or movie). Seriously, even just the fact that it’s never referred to as ASL — as if sign language is universal was such an ick for me! 

I would have liked this book more if the narration was more balanced between Bree & Archer. I found myself disappointed every time I started another chapter that was still Bree’s POV. To be honest the writing was lackluster overall with so many unnecessary details that made it slower instead of more captivating.

Additionally, I got bored with the book when the repetitive & extended sex scenes took over the plot. With the length of the book I was expecting the characters to develop more than they did but there wasn’t space for that with all the intense infatuation / codependency. 

The climax felt rushed & the twist was a little manipulative in my opinion. I was looking forward to a little more action but it was over so quickly. Felt like I got whiplash…

The Epilogue & extended Epilogue were cute but not necessary. I also don’t think I ever had a chance to care enough about Travis to interest me in an entire spinoff book about him.

Honestly, this would probably be a 5 star read if I wasn’t as knowledgeable as I am about sign language. I feel like it was hard for me to find the sign language conversations believable, because the wording was inaccurate.
