“ But truth can be slippery, hard to look at straight on. It's too open to interpretations and view points. Lies are more solid, sometimes they feel more real.”
Is it predictable? Yes, probably. Is it original as a YA thriller book? Maybe not. And still, I screamed with that ending, I saw it coming but the way Kayla narrates what happened gave me chills. It’s one of the few books that I’ve read with unreliable narrators, when you know a fact through rumors and comments from people who are not objective, and the person in whom the story is centered has no participation because one is in jail and the other is dead.
In my country there is nothing like summer camps (I think), so I don't know much about the dynamics, activities and relationships that arise there... but go that far for a girl you recently met? PSYCHO! PSYCHO! PSYCHO! An innocent friendship ended in an obsession and a dead body, what was supposed to be an accident ended up on trial as murder. And here comes that famous line, "if I don't have you just for myself, no one else will have you."
Favorite character: Kayla

God I don’t even know what to say, this book played with me more than my crush did uhmm so where do we start. Ok so firstly, the writing AJDNHEJSKAK I CANNOT. It was so good that it manipulated me. For the first few pages I thought it Lainie who was dead and not Jackson, and that Kayla was actually actually innocent girlie. wow. but she was a mastermind and also the quotes in some of the letters? slay.

This book was good but not great to me. The story was definitely interesting but was a pretty low simmer to read all the way through.

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this for epic reads and I love it it kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning and I ended up finning I’m in one sitting I loved everything about this book the plot the characters how it was told most through letters with some text and news reports and statements from other camps sprinkled in there if you want a good quick mystery novel then this is a great option. this book will destroy you

good book, quite similar to many other books in this genre but not in a bad way, the 'twist' was extremely obvious but it didn't ruin the reveal for reading experience for me
