When Jeremy is in trouble Cassel goes out of his way to keep in safe while Jeremy is worried for putting Cassel in trouble . Another fabulous funny book Leland and his escapades never fail to make me laugh out loud.

Once again the crew from Wellstone Private Investigators find themselves involved in a case that involves plenty of mayhem.

Cassel has been crushing on policeman Jeremy (Jerebear) for months without making any progress. It may be his rather unfortunate wooing skills and/or the fact that Jeremy is pretty oblivious to it all. Circumstances finally have them working together and so begins all sorts of mayhem as they bring down the bad guys.

Naturally Leland, Jackson and Henry are along for the ride ensuring lots of hilarity involving silks and spandex, Leland’s armoury, Fred the possible serial killer and car chases.

I laughed out loud on too many occasions to count whilst reading this very enjoyable and engaging book. The romance is low heat and focuses more on the development of the relationship between Cassel and Jeremy who both have parts of their lives that remain hidden for a reason. They are wonderfully developed characters and I cheered them on from beginning to end where Cassel finally got his longed for HEA with Jeremy.

This is book one in the Former Assassins Guide Book series and I can’t wait for more.

Probably more like 2.5 but I’m rounding up. This was fun. Cassel and Jeremy were good together. Cassel wasn’t nearly as over the top as Leland, but there was still plenty of that since he was around a lot. I’m a bit sad to say goodbye to these characters now.

On a side-note, I found it kind of weird that the people that betrayed them/turned out to be villainous in this book and the previous three were all women. What’s up with that? First Emerson, then Anna, then Emilia. It’s like a female character can’t be around while being on the side of the protagonists…

Nobody does m/m screwball comedies like Alice Winters!  This is a great spin-off (book 3.5) of the Hitman series starring baby-hitman Cassel and "by-the-book" cop Jeremy.  Be sure to check out this hilarious action adventure featuring a great cast of old and new characters!
