It's mighty easy to give this short memoir 5 stars; Rob Delaney's voice is blunt, unapologetically direct on topics some might feel squeamish about (but that I found refreshingly interesting), and he's adorably likeable and funny. Let's start with the title: clearly he had trouble coming up with one, and this litany of non-sequiturs slyly lets us know. He covers his struggles with alcohol and sobriety, a few pre-wifely romantic flailings, depression, and body secretions. Light laughs come with gratifying regularity, and we readers are left with an appreciation for the way his mind works. I'd be happy to read another memoir, should one be forthcoming. A lot has happened in his life since writing this one.

Delaney's book is funnier than most "I was an alcoholic" type memoirs. It's not amazingly funny, though. The funniest bits are the excerpts from his twitter feed. Don't get sucked into the "it's funny" hype, or you'll be disappointed. However, if you like memoirs written by former alcoholics, this is at least as good as the next one.

I was expecting this to be a typical book written by a stand up comic, meaning that it would just be a collection of bits without a lot of substance. Don't get me wrong, I was still looking forward to reading it because I love Rob's comedy but I was incredibly surprised and pleased with this book. It's an honest and touching memoir with lots of F bombs and poop descriptions. I appreciate learning that the people I admire, who are good at what they do, worked hard to get where they are and overcame obstacles. That always inspires me and this book was no exception.

Rob Delaney manages to be simultaneously crass, funny, genuine, and extremely compassionate. It's a good combination. Despite some really heavy content - alcoholism, depression - this was a quick read and it made me laugh.

This is a very entertaining read. Perfect for reading at the gym or when you have 5 minutes. He has some pretty hilarious stories about his drunken antics over the years. But part of me also felt annoyed while reading this at times; maybe it's because the person he described himself as in college was someone who I don't think I'd be fond of and it made him less relatable to me. Maybe it was because his style is pretty crass, way past the point of tastefully so... So I'd recommend for a light read and a good laugh when everything else is pretty busy and heavy.

My one regret with this book is that I did not read it the second it was available. When I did read it however, I finished it in three days, which means anyone who reads at a normal speed, can probably read it in an afternoon. So if you’re not a ridiculously slow reader like me, spend an afternoon and get to know Rob Delaney.
