This was perfect.

After hours of struggling with not knowing what book to read next I came across Being Brooke. I was enraptured right from the start.

I loved everything about it, the chemistry between the to MC's. The bond and love between three best friends. The humor and just craziness that was Brooke. The banter between Brooke and Cain. It was all just perfect.

Didn’t think much of this at the start - very cheesy, very easy read, sometimes verging into teen territory but as time went on I fell in love with the love story.

I think it’s meant to be funny, some parts are, especially involving the grandpa. An okay read in the end.

I read this book at the recommendation of a friend. I have read Emma Hart's books before, but for some reason, this one did not take my fancy at all.
I'm glad that I read it, it was a light, breezy, easy read. I'm afraid I didn't like the main characters as much as I wanted to and I ended up being more frustrated with them than anything else.
The writing flowed well as all Emma's books do, I just couldnt connect with these particular characters and I would imagine that it says more about personal taste than anything else. You cant like everyone can you?
This is why I have still rated the book as 4 stars, I think it was a personality issue, not bad writing!

Being Brooke is Emma Hart's new standalone. As always, Emma delivers the humor with likeable characters, hilarious situations and romance. Brooke is a hot mess and I mean that in the best and funniest way. She's crazy and bitchy but she's also loving and loyal. She's also been in love with her best friend, Cain, for years. She's been handling it pretty well but recently it's become hard to control. Especially when he walks around without his shirt on or says flirty things. Oh, and he has a horrible, high maintenance girlfriend who doesn't want him to see her. Although this is a friends to romance story, Being Brooke isn't just about her love for her best friend. It's about her relationship with her other best friend, Carly, who's just as crazy and bitchy. It's about her relationship with her family and how family is judgmental and mean, but they also love each other. It's also about Brooke finding what she loves and what she wants to do with her life. I loved the characters and their interaction with each other. From the moms to the Grandpa, to the sister to Cain's hot brother, Zeke. Yeah, I love Zeke. Overall, I enjoyed the story, laughed out loud and even cried! Brooke was a little too much for me at times, but that's just who she is! I'm hoping to see more from these characters!

"Maybe I like granny panties. They keep my tushy warm."
"They keep your tushy something, and what it is, is lonely."

This book started off a little slow.

I put it down for awhile and then picked it back up a couple of days ago.

I then powered through it.

Cain and Brooke are so damn cute once they both come to their senses and open up to each other.

The epilogue was great and the last few lines had me audibly saying “awwww”

Overall a great story!

This was a hilarious read- I actually laughed out loud... which was embarrassing since I was on a plane.

I loved Brooke's overall carefree attitude that she is a twenty something year old "grown up" and she still doesn't know what she wants to do with her career, relationships or life in general. The banter between the characters is hilarious and I loved it. It was such a light and fun read and I read it fairly quickly.

What a terrible book. Brooke is just so whiny and annoying. She's 24 and a total damsel in distress. I had no interest in following her story, and wasn't particularly happy to see her get a "happily ever after."

Problems with Brooke:
• She can't do anything by herself. She can't cook to save her life, she can't clean, she can't unpack, and she can't walk in a straight line.
• She's so entitled and young. She's like the type of girl to end up on The Bachelor. OMG, wine! Ugh, life is so hard, isn't it?
• She's dropped out of university twice and doesn't care at all about the money she's thrown away. And her family enables this behaviour (they just want her to be "happy").
• She's so grumpy and a grouch all the time. I don't know why people put up with her.
• She's self-aware of her negative qualities, but doesn't see any reason to change her ways — e.g. to be more independent, to not be a hot mess, etc. etc.

Also, I hate how a sizeable aspect of who she is and how the story wound up was only introduced towards the latter quarter of the story. Uh, where did these talents come from? How did they manifest? If she has this mysterious skill, why would Cain ask her to cook for him all the time instead of bribing him in other ways?

Cain has no spine when it comes to Brooke. They were both so frustrating, and experienced "insta-love" right away. Stop it right now! Cain, if you knew you liked Brooke, why would you even get together with Nina in the first place? You're both ridiculous.

I really enjoyed this book. Brooke and her friends are completely ridiculous and I enjoyed every minute of it. This is a slow burn romance, but you know it's coming. Once they finally admit their feelings for each other, you completely understand Brooke's hesitation but LOVE Cain's responses.

I laughed and got swoony throughout this book. I would read it again.

Never has a main character felt so relatable...

It's a wonder Brooke is even allowed to adult - she's just moved out of home even though she can barely cook to save herself, and instead of unpacking everything, is just using garbage bags and the floor as her wardrobe. She's a college dropout who's working for an ass of a boss as a travel agent, and literally trips over thin air. Plus, she's totally in love with her best friend Cain who has a total plastic bitch Barbie as a girlfriend, and the closest thing she has for a boyfriend is her trusty vibrator. Although she's been able to keep control of her feelings for Cain for the past ten years, things have changed and she's suddenly all the more aware that he's not the teenager she fell in love with - he's a man that she can't help but undress in her head. When he finally breaks up with Nina, there's a shift in their relationship, and despite literally everyone telling her to come clean and let Cain know how she feels, she doesn't want to ruin their friendship. That is until he kisses her and she's more lost than she's ever been.

Gosh this was such a cute and fun read! But of course, I didn't expect any less from Emma, who you all know I'm obsessed with. Brooke is such a relatable character - no idea what she's doing in love, total introvert who can't really stand being around people, with close and equally as crazy friends. If you don't connect with her on some level, you are clearly a robot. She's fun, sarcastic and a little - okay not a little - dramatic. If this book didn't follow a romance, I think I would be so okay with just reading about Brooke's relationship with friends and family.

But, of course, this is a romance, and one that'll have you wishing your best guy friend would just realise that you're totally hung up on him. Cain and Brooke's friendship is really fun, and watching them figure out how to be more than that was just as fun, if not a little awkward (I really need to know how many times Emma wrote awkward in this book). It's a total cliche, but I love relationships where literally every other character knows these two are meant to be together, because these conversation and exchanges are always hilarious.

On top of the friendship and romance, this is a story about figuring out what to do in life. At twenty-four, Brooke has no idea what she wants to do, until an opportunity arises for a career opportunity that she didn't realise she wanted to or could follow. It was nice to see her figure out her dream and pursue it.

Do I really have to say it? READ EMMA HART'S BOOKS! This was such a super cute read and one that all romance and contemporary fans will enjoy. Now excuse me while I dive into book two!
