It was ok -the beginning grabbed me, the middle lost me, and the ending grabbed me again. The grief of the parents was well written but the dragged a bit for me.

There was this so-called "Pig in a poke" sale at our local book store meaning one could get ten books for the price of two BUT the package was prepared by the store employees so the buyer had no idea what they would get. Sadly, I received a copy of this book in my package.

I found it very hard to relate to the characters and the storyline - and not just because of the age difference as the book revolves around middle-aged characters, but because of the lack of in-depth character description and personality expression (it appears that most of them are defined by their emotions instead of their traits) along with the unrelatable plot (e.g. Sarah's noble ancestry and the constant visits to luxurious places), which was rather predictable and had no major revelations or twists. Don't even get me started on Kat and Scott's relationship... I also think the dialogues in the book were generally dull and not life-like at all. This whole thing felt like reading a published fan fiction and not of the good kind. I was really disappointed in the end.

To wrap it up, I don't regret buying that package. What I do regret is the time I wasted reading this particular book that it contained.

Won in Goodread's Giveaway. Not bad. It was a quick read. Not much went on until the last few pages. I was expecting more suspense, based on the Gone Girl comparison (which I disliked). It just fell really short, as if it was the bare bones of a story.

I liked the book, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting something more tense, suspenseful, and keep me on the edge of my seat. I felt like this read more as a drama-type, instead of a psychological thriller.

The beginning and end were interesting, but the middle dragged on, and took too long to get to the climax. The ending, while it was good and was resolved in a satisfactory manner, felt too rushed.

Good character development in the main characters, wished there was a little more fleshed out on some of the sideplots and secondary characters (namely, Chloe and who exactly she was to Chris). I could only imagine the pain that the parents were going through after the loss of their son. Maybe it's because I don't have kids, but I couldn't really relate, and at times, the female MC annoyed me.

The villain never really came off as threatening or dangerous, at least not to me.

With all that being said, I still enjoyed the book and was interested enough to see it through to the end.

Intrusion wasn't my favorite novel, but also wasn't the worst I've read. The story moved along quickly enough, and was easy to read. There were definitely a few twists and turns I didn't anticipate which kept me mostly interested - at least interested enough to finish the story.

Liked it, but nothing extraordinary. The grief of the parents was well written, but the suspense/thriller angle was lacking in much intrigue or surprise, and totally fizzled in the ending. There were a couple of editing errors that caught my attention, but the writing itself was well done and didn't distract me from the story itself. A quick and entertaining enough read, but nothing I'd be in a rush to recommend as not to be missed.

This was my Kindle First free selection for June.

Eh, this was alright. It was obvious from the start where this was going. Not exactly in the "how," but you knew where this was going to end up. Though I found myself at over 90% done with the book and the "big reveal" still hadn't happened. At the close, it was a VERY short scene that ended entirely too quickly. Overall, it was an okay book, but it left me a bit flat.

Super Sad

I enjoyed the quick read that this book was and how it flowed along pretty well. It was a bit predictable, but those things can be forgiven when you allow yourself to just be drawn by the story. Kat deals with a lot of grief and it sounds like she isn't getting the help she needs, and it did bug me a little that suddenly, with no help, she seems magically cured, like all you need is a good death threat to sort yourself out. But, for a quick read, it was interesting.

Kat got on my nerves SO MUCH!!! Seriously, with Sarah's past history, how could she not be suspicious? I can't imagine the pain of losing a child, so maybe I couldn't connect with Kat on that level. I do believe she (and Scott) should have made a better effort in making sure she kept up with her counseling appointments.

You have to wait until practically the last page for the climax of the story - and it was no surprise!
