sincerelykayladawn's review against another edition
I couldnt finish the book because of some problematic themes. Specifically transphobic narratives, among others that were not listed as TWs. Even if they had been, I find those substories, as written, harmful and unnecessary to the overall plot of the book. Full disclosure: I read over half, but did not finish as the concerning themes were repetitive and I never felt an emotional connection to the MC.
Minor: Transphobia

dark
I was so looking forward to this book and have loved following Brandi’s TikTok content leading up to its release.
Unfortunately, this book is transphobic and problematic. I did finish the story and I was intrigued by the characters but I just cannot support an author who feeds into such debilitating transphobic language.
I hope that Brandi takes the criticism she has received and maybe amends this book in the future. I’m all for dark tales but not storylines that are harmful to an entire community of people.
