I liked this third installment much better than Rebekah. The character development is great. But it really only does seem like half the story. I look forward to reading The Wives of Israel if Card ever gets around to writing it.

I didn't like it as much as I liked the first two, but it wasn't a 2 star book.

I finished this pretty quickly. It was good. Nothing mind-blowing, but I thought it was paced nicely, although the ending was a bit abrupt.

I would probably give this a 2.5. I am so over reading about young, whiny, emotional girls! I've lived it and have a "tween" now. I don't want to spend my free time reading about a couple of insecure girls. I like the history, but over all, way to much drama for me.

this book has been on my TBR pile for years and i finally!! got around to reading it!! what it does is it fleshes the biblical narrative and tells the story through the four women’s eyes—rachel, leah, and their handmaidens—kinda like a four-way bildungsroman. it was immersive and convincing, the characters were complex and well-written, and i also liked how the repeated references to jacob tricking esau out of his inheritance kinda suggests that the bridal switch was karmic retribution. highkey wna read the two earlier books in the series now!!

Another good book by Orson Scott Card. I liked this one slightly less than [b:Rebekah|7966|Rebekah (Women of Genesis, #2)|Orson Scott Card|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388733352s/7966.jpg|2176569], but I really liked how each character had a distinct voice and I loved Leah's character arc. She's always been an interesting Biblical character to me. As with the last book, I feel like there are probably some cultural and historical things that are issues, but Card's writing is compelling enough that I am pulled into it and can let the other stuff go. This was a quick, pleasant read.

Emily Card did another great job of reading this book. OSC hit another one out of the park as well. This is a great story of ordinary people trying their best to do what is right.

Why yes, yes I did read this series in reverse order!:-P The bad part about this book? It ended! Apparently it is to continue in a "Wives of Israel" book/series and I really want to read that!
