I liked the gore, the horror aspect.
I just felt like the story fell flat when it could have been better.
& the ending was quick and done, I expected more.

I've been wanting to read Anatomy since I saw this very cool bone chilling cover.

If you have read any of the author’s work before than you know that there will be some graphic scenes and this book was no different.
The story is written from the two main characters POV. Each chapter alternated between them, letting you know how each one was acting and feeling. The “monster” had a gentlemanlike quality to him and whilst he was inflicting pain on the victim, he had a caring nature and was proud of his work. The “victim” even through all the pain had a strong nature to her but I felt that she was hiding something .
This story is so descriptively written that you can imagine just what pain was inflicted. The story flows seamlessly and you are drawn in, wishing her to survive. This story is beautifully written and the true meaning of this story is revealed at the end. Yes it is a horror but it also so much more.

I’m not torn with this macabre tale of monsters. On the one hand it is nothing like anything I’ve ever read before. Written in almost 2nd person with the “monster” talking in a way it sounds like he is talking to the audience. The story keeps you guessing and gets you engrossed and intrigued always trying to work out what is happening. On the other hand however I wasn’t overly taken by the ending and the story was kind of weird.
Overall I’m glad I read it as it’s something so far from the norm and was a refreshing change especially if you like macabre

This was my first read by Yolanda Olson but I had already gathered - and been warned - that her books are super dark! I mean I like dark, but this was something else.

I wasn't sure if I'd get past the first few pages, but I was mesmerised by the torture - I imagine that makes me a bit

My problem with this book is not the blood or the gore (which Yolanda did an EXCELLENT job describing). My problem mostly stemmed from how the book was set up. It is completely first person and the chapters usually switch from the captor to the captive, but not always. It took me until halfway through the 2nd chapter to realize this and there were parts that still got me confused on whose point of view I was experiencing. Most of the time in the captor's POV it is just him speaking but there are no indications of dialogue so you just assume, which wasn't bad (I actually liked that his POV was just him talking, it was something different) until parts of his chapter weren't dialogue and thats when things got confusing. If that were my only issues I would probably give the book 3/4 stars, but by the end when everything came together instead of having an understanding I just became frustrated. You get the backstory and you get the captive's story but for the investment I felt in the captive through the book I was just kind of let down by how it ended. Not that it necessarily fell short, just that its unexpected and I did not particularly enjoy it.
