While the idea of having interesting villains made Batman interesting, there is very little development on the character of Bruce Wayne. Some side stories, however, are worth reading.

I just don't think this Detective Comics are for me. I struggled reading the first book and I thought that the series might get better but this series is not for me.
This continues where the first book leaves off. But the story for me was just a struggle and I don't enjoy the book.
Besides the story I do like the characters. They are the only thing that I enjoyed about the book. They are the characters that I love reading about and seem the same in every Batman graphic novel that I read.
I feel like in this series there is just way too many things and story plots that the author was trying to put into one story and it just made the story confusing. I had no idea where the story was going or what was going on through out the whole thing.
I just don't think this was the story for me and I may try the next one just to see where that one takes the story but I may not continue this series after.

Read the english Eaglemoss version, being an English speaker as I am but this was the closest edition to mine.
I was a little disappointed in Scare Tactics, it wasn't a bad story in any way shape or form and the illustrations were stunning but it just didn't quite hit the mark.
It started off initially compelling with Batman saving Catwoman (my favourite storyline/duo/whatever they define themselves as) but that was the last you saw of her. This would be fine but the story continued with Scarecrow (terrifying villain that he is) but became disjointed from this point. There didn't feel any complete resolution with any of the story lines that had been incorporated rather it read like a prologue to when Batman does the time travel thing - not my favourite arc.
The Harvey Dent story at the end I could have done without entirely.

So I've been wanting to see what the Joker plans to do with his face ripped off for quite a while, and there is no Joker in this book at all. I guess the Detective Comics are just that, little mysteries to solve. But you can't introduce something crazy in the first volume and then ditch it entirely in the next. There's one little comic at the very end about a guard being in the room with the face in its box, and that's it. I could have skipped this volume entirely and it would have been fine I bet. The comic itself wasn't bad, just not what I was looking to read. I'm not familiar with the False Face Society, and the Mad Hatter as a villain is kind of eh for me.

This is not a good Batman title. Better than volume 1, but that's pretty faint praise.

Started off decent then it seemed to be all over the place. The mad hatter face off with black mask was pretty badass and I loved the bonus story of Bruce training for like seven years. Everything else seemed to lose the main focus and I couldn't been finish the bonus arcs at the end which has never happened before.

Most of this book is hot, sci-fi nonsense with a Court of Owls side. The last third is a fun pre Batman story trying to retcon Bruce Wayne's commitment phobia and a so so Two Face story. Not great art, not great story telling.
