This book was fine, it was a little overhyped for me.

****spoilerish/spoiler adjacent, so if you like to go in blind, don’t read on.

I knew what was going to happen really early on, so the reveal wasn’t what it could have been.

The fever dream aspects I liked and I think if it was just that, and left us without the stereotypical villain explanation of their whole plan and everything that happened and how it came to be in the 11th hour, it would have been a stronger story.

This book definitely took an unexpected spin towards the end. It was very slow for me but, some chapters did capture my attention. If you enjoy eerie, mysterious, books with gore then this is the story for you!

This was a wonderfully fucked up read with how graphic it was and the constant twists to keep you on your toes. The last couple of chapters almost had me in tears.

Spoiler"That was the deal. You or him. He could either cut his throat or watch me cut yours."

That caught me in the feels and made me think back to when Dixie saw him in the hospital and Mr Cullins said it was as if he died the day of the murders and his heart just didn't know whether to stop beating. This revelation puts that into an entirely different perspective... Poor guy was just as much the victim 😦

Definitely worth a read.

this was the most gruesome book I've read to date and while I finished it outside of spooky season, this is the ultimate spooky season pick.

there were sections where I had to reread because I wasn't sure what I just read, because of something happening to the MC and only one scene where I had a visceral reaction and had to pause a moment.

excellent spooky book ever

| Favorite Quote | He covered his ears before it even occurred to him to cover his eyes. Pg. 3

| My Review | A dark gory story with an unreliable narrator. I found the graphic descriptions disturbing at times. I also have mixed feelings about the twist ending. If this book teaches you anything, it’s to always check up on your mental health y’all!
