If you grew up watching iCarly and have childhood trauma of any sort, you will enjoy this book. McCurdy is naturally humorous, and it reflects in her writing. There were times I was crying and others I was laughing out loud while listening to it. I would highly recommend the audiobook since she reads it herself. The only complaint I have is I wish there was more about her adult life but I understand that wasn’t the complete focus of the book. I also wish there had been more reflection about her relationship with her mother while she was finally recovering about her ED. I felt like it was gone over pretty quickly. Still loved it though.

A quick, easily digestible read that does so much to reveal how trauma and abuse affect us. Jennette has a very distinct authorial voice that places us in her headspace expertly.

a dark and emotionally challenging story about finding yourself after spending your whole life moulding yourself in to what someone else demands you to be, in the midst of grief and mental illness, in an industry that only cares if you’re making them money. really interesting and beautifully written. hearing jennette’s thoughts through each moment being recounted was interesting and vulnerable. it felt like a story of importance, that needed to be told. hard to put down but i did have to take a break in the middle as it was so hard to listen to, but listening to it read by jennette herself felt very impactful. definitely worth a read.
