What an incredible incredible book that focuses on so many harsh topics and realities and encapsulates so many feelings that it just speaks to so many people. At first, I assumed the message was just to be bitter. But it's not, it's something more amazing than that because it's about the painful process of healing and I needed to read this. McCurdy is a talented talented writer and the audiobook is well worth listening to because it makes the experience so much better.

I think this book would be really comforting and relatable to those who have very complicated relationships with their mothers and in return have a very complex self image.

This was a hard read for me personally, but I did learn a lot from it. In the cheesy way of it making me feel less alone, i’ll definitely be rereading it.

Listening to this as an audiobook, narrated by Jennette McCurdy herself, definitely affected how close and personal this read. It's one thing to read a memoir, but it's another to actually hear the person who lived the events read it to you in their own way. Jennette's storytelling is complete with earnestness, emotion, and (albeit, dark) humor that is reflective of a smartly written, thoughtfully put-together book.
