Who knew the digestive system could be so fun? Mary Roach, that's who! Roach speaks to a number of experts about a variety of topics surrounding the alimentary canal, including (but not limited to) saliva and its properties, why we don't have active taste buds past the tongue, and can you really be killed by eating too much? Like with her other books, Roach writes Gulp for the average person (aka those of us who aren't doctors or scientists - though if you are either of those, this book is still a delight!), making the science accessible and explanations easy to follow.
