This book was so precious, sweet-tinged, and bittersweet too. I wish things resolved so wholesomely in real life and we could all feel like we had a wonderful chosen family/community like Vera too. By the end of the book, I wished there had been no murderer at all. SPOILER: The murder-murderee story was super brutal and I tried not to dwell on it and instead enjoy the sweetness of the rest of the story. This is not my usual type of book (I typically read fantasy!) and I am really curious about Jesse Sutanto's other books, because this one was SO GOOD.

3.5 stars. A wonderfully warm and charming cozy mystery. The characters are so likable, you hope none of them are the killer, but you’ll also be rooting for Vera to solve the case.

Charming and heart-warming, a very cozy read considering it’s a murder mystery!

Bit slow to start and took a while to get into it but where the book shines is the interactions between characters.

A heartwarming and funny story. Very well written. Story flowed nicely.  Enjoyed the different perspectives. Audiobook did a great job in capturing everyone’s character, especially Vera. Even down to the pronunciation and Chinese mannerism.
