I have many negative thoughts about ham on rye but it’s also so girlie coded while also being misogynistic it’s next level

So bed rot core

Relatable, witty, and brutally honest. The prose here is amazing while keeping a casual feel. Bukowski is one of my favorite writers.

Finished this last night, a good book. Not the kinds I read but the way struggles of author have been talked about, during a time when the world was facing Great Depression, was commendable. Some things are not relatable because of the time when it happened but there many things which can be still relatable.

As Elie Wiesel says in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech "and that is why I swore never to be silent whenever & wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men & women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must-at that moment- become the center of the universe.
These views are even more true as we have the persecutions of Christians & all people who stand in the way of radical Islam, persecutions of women of Muslim faith. & the threat of Russian resurgunce in the Ukraine. The threat of Boko Harum in Africa. We people of the world cannot be silent at their suffering. Evil never leaves it only hides until it gets strong again.

Very funny, and although I probably shouldn't relate to this, it all seems very familiar...
