A book with epic scope and queer love stories, this was an emotional and breathtaking read. Spanning multiple regions each filled with well developed faiths and landscapes, Shannon weaves a story of the trials and joys of feminine power. She discusses the highs and lows of motherhood while exploring both young and mature queer relationships. I will say that the pace is quite changeable, but only due to the twists which keep the 800+ pages engaging. Would recommend to anyone looking for beautiful dragons and queer love with poetic, descriptive prose that reminds me of the Song of Achilles at times.

I think this is truly the best fantasy book I have ever read. The combination of stunning pride, world building, and characters is unmatched. Such a beautifully told story, with all the elements of what makes real life hard and hopeful

I had high expectations for this book after Priory and it did not disappoint.
The characters and the world were well-fleshed-out, I came to care about them deeply. There were no plot holes and it set up Priory nicely.
The writing was beautiful, I only found that it was quite slow for me but towards the end it got better.
Representation of everyone (gender-equality, POC, LGBTQ, etc.) was there, just like it ought to be.
I loved the themes, motherhood, religion and duty, and how they were explored.
