This was a pretty cute and short read that was listed as a humorous book. I didn't find it particularly funny, but I was able to read it in one sitting, so I must have enjoyed it! It was easy for me to identify with the characters and empathize with them as well. While this book was familiar, if the reader had watched ABC's The Bachelor, I enjoyed the twists and turns this book had, as well as the backstage glimpses we got. While this ends on a slight cliffhanger setting up the next book in the series, the main couple did get a happily ever after. One thing that we didn't get to see is what happened to the bachelor character after the dust died down, and I would have liked to see what happened there, as the author alluded to the other dangling thread in her set up for the next book.

Cassidy Quinn is excited at the idea of being on a dating show. She is newly single after a breakup that appeared to come out of the blue and is looking to get some self-confidence back and have some new adventures, getting out of her comfort zone, on this Bachelor-esque dating show called The One. Contestants are forbidden from interacting with the crew, but Cassidy's camera man, Evan Burke, doesn't make that easy. Evan watches Cassidy through a camera lens 20 hours a day and his protective instincts are in high gear. Not only is Cassidy a little clutzy and accident prone, she also has the potential to be further hurt once it is discovered that the bachelor is none other than her ex-boyfriend, the one that broke her heart. Knowing loss, Evan is hesitant to get involved, but Cassidy does not make it easy for him to stay in the background. They have several people conspiring against them, and there is still the fact that Cassidy is on a reality show she is contracted to participate in until the bachelor sends her home. But Bachelor Brad is rethinking his decision to break up with Cassidy and now may want her back, if only he can choose between her and "bad girl" Zoe. Love the eye contact and dialogue between Cassidy and Evan. Zoe is truly evil in this first book (her redemption comes in book 3). The reality show is the flimsiest of the three books. Having never watched The Bachelor in real life, I don't know if the "dates" are truly 20 minutes long where "true love" is expected to develop. I found the reality show to be silly, but the premise surrounding the reality show provided a cute story for a quick read.

I really, really wanted to like this one, but I just couldn't. Characters did a lot of ridiculous bouncing back and forth (I [virtually instantly, of course] love Evan. No wait, I might still have feelings for Brad. No, I could never want to kiss Brad again--ugh. Oh, wait, somehow his tongue got stuck in my mouth. Wait, why is Even so upset? He's so unreasonable!) I had to force myself to finish it, mostly because I didn't want to get too behind on my Goodreads challenge....

Evan and Cassidy were both very likable characters. They were easy-going and fun and I loved reading about them. I hated Brad. I guess I was kind of biased, since I knew he had dumped Cassidy but I just couldn't like him, cause he was just like every other guy looking to get laid and not find the love of his life.

Tip to the author: avoid having characters fall in love within the first 2 chapter of the novel.
