I really must read this again. It’s been almost 20 years since I read this. I remember really enjoying myself but now I wonder if it’ll hold up.

Humorous and satirical, 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court' delivers a wonderfully devised collision of the sixth and nineteenth centuries. The plot of this novel is highly entertaining and captivating. Through the eyes of the sixth century inhabitants, the "magic" of the nineteenth century is seen in a humorous way to the reader but as witchcraft to them. Throughout the plot, Mark Twain exposes the insubstantiality of both eras. 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court' makes for a hilarious and enjoyable read. Highly recommended!

The story was surely funny, but because it was read (yep, audiobook again) by Nick Offerman, it was exceptionally hilarious. I’m not sure I would’ve caught some of the humor had it not been for Offerman’s remarkable reading of the tale.

If I had to give advice I’d suggest skipping the reading and go straight to the audiobook.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Nick Offerman!

A supreme work of satire—as much as human nature can be thought of as tamed in our modern age, we are still beholden to it.

Blazed through it with the really excellent narration of Brian Kelly of Oregon Publishing. I find books like this work very well as audiobooks as long as you are willing to let names slide.

This story tickled my fancy and got some genuine laughs out of me at certain points. At one point I got the notion in my head that the book was a 19th century version of a isekai and that enhanced the experience quite a bit

This book was a fairly pleasant surprise. It had deeper themes and messages than I was originally anticipating. I thought the story as a whole was wonderful. Certain chapters I found to be a little dry and very forward in their political intent. I tended to favor the more subtle parts of the novels that allowed the reader to think deeply on their own about what Twain was possibly trying to say. Overall I do think this is a underrated classic and more people should give it a chance. The book provides more than a comedic adventure through Arthurian legend, it takes a deeper look at humanity.
