This series is like candy to me. I love Phryne as a “modern” woman - an independent & adventurous private detective who flies planes, drives fast cars, drinks hard liquor, & carries a gun. And other strong female characters too. Quirky intriguing plots. Not a fan of the long descriptions of fashion (though enjoy the actual fashion used in the TV adaption). Didn’t like - not a diverse cast (white, cis, het, etc).

Way better than the first two. Not sure how I feel about Klara the lesbian misandrist sex worker who specializes in pedophiles, but I can see why she didn't make the TV version.

This installment hits the ground running and rarely slows down. Jane, Ruth, and Ember are delightful additions that I hope stick around for future adventures.

Affair count: 1, Lindsay Herbert the Student.
- Strikes me as way too young and pathetic for Phryne, but whatever.
Series Total: 4.

Not worth reading if you've seen the episode based on this one, not much difference.

This entry into the series got a little more complicated and interesting. I'm interested to see how being an adoptive mother changes Phryne at all (I'm guessing not at all, since it sounds like her plans just consist of boarding school).

The murder was still fairly transparent, but there were a few interesting twists.
