Satisfying read

All's well that ends well, as the man so famously said. There's a lot of trauma in this book, and a lot of healing. It's not exactly a romance, but love is the central theme - both having it and living without it.

Of course, trauma in a novel always means you spend some time angry at or annoyed with the characters. It's all okay in the end, or at least I was.

Ok, as I was reading, this might have been four stars but after reflection it dropped a bit. First off, they essentially dropped the device of the bookseller and her ability to read the feelings of previous readers. I thought this was going to go somewhere and it just...didn't. Also, the story of Belle and Hemi felt so predictable, right up through the 'wrong note' situation. Also couldn't quite buy that neither one of them had really moved on, or bothered to contact the other. Or that Belle's sister was still so evil, and then ready to just Villain Monologue it up there at the end. It was ok, and may be a fun read for some, but wasn't for me.

Now I would like to start this by saying I did enjoy this book. I thought the idea of this was well done and I liked the characters (probably would've been 4*).
However, I am trying to educate myself on the authors that I’m reading and I find that she has a level of unprofessionalism. I’m not knowledgeable about American politics so I don’t have a particular opinion but the way in which she expresses her views is very unprofessional to me. I have gone through her Twitter account and though I appreciate that she claims to be someone who fights for people's rights, there’s a severe lack of empathy towards current issues in the world, especially in regards to Palestine. I have chosen to not give a rating and to no longer support this author by giving them a platform due to a lack of awareness about their own hypocrisy and unprofessional public image.

Good book, a little sappy but overall enjoyable. Was not expecting this to be a romance!
