This was a great bounce back book in this series. I was not really happy with the direction the series was going. I was really worried about the next book but this book was very good.

4.5/5. Surprisingly I liked this one better than some of the others now that the Lilith arc is "complete."

Actual rating 3.3. I liked it well enough. I was mostly expecting it to pick up where the last book left off in terms of being action packed.

Another fun addition to the Nightside series. I loved how dark the ending was, and it's always fun to discover the secrets of various characters in the Nightside.

What do you do after the greatness that was the last few books- the Lilith Wars? You go back to basics. This is an old school John Taylor book that settles everything down to where it used to be. A great little mystery. Felt very Agatha Christie to me. Enjoyed it a good deal.

The stakes in this one are smaller and more personal than apocalyptic, which was a nice change of pace. Having more page time with Dead Boy was enjoyable. Things are starting to settle into a new power dynamic in the Nightside after the last book. There are a few pieces of classic sardonic dark humour that made me laugh out loud. The larger than life characters and overall mythology of this series are consistently a fun time. There are just little things about the ending that seemed a bit too convenient for me, but getting there was a great ride it was still satisfying overall. The ending does pay off the buildup and suspense of the book in a solid way.
