The stakes in this one are smaller and more personal than apocalyptic, which was a nice change of pace. Having more page time with Dead Boy was enjoyable. Things are starting to settle into a new power dynamic in the Nightside after the last book. There are a few pieces of classic sardonic dark humour that made me laugh out loud. The larger than life characters and overall mythology of this series are consistently a fun time. There are just little things about the ending that seemed a bit too convenient for me, but getting there was a great ride it was still satisfying overall. The ending does pay off the buildup and suspense of the book in a solid way.
Moderate: Gore, Gun violence, and Blood
