Wasn't totally convinced by this read. It provides a useful framework for navigating relationships after complex trauma, but I found it a little overly simplified in places. I would recommend this for practical approaches, but think the descriptions of the complexities of trauma and dysfunctional family dynamics are way too brief and would suggest further reading beyond this book for actually coming to terms with childhood trauma.

as my lovely boyfriend put it, "are you reading the book or is the book reading you?"

Listened to this in order to understand what somebody in my life was going through and it's very eye opening. The situation makes much more sense now that I have an explanation for the behavior of the people involved. Thorough explanations and examples to illustrate her points.

I was internally screaming the whole time I was reading this book. It made me get a better understanding of people around me, confirmed my ways of dealing with them and validated my feelings.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to literally everyone since we all need some advice on how to function with emotionally immature people, inside and outside of our families.
