I guess I'm satisfied with that ending, I was almost going to give up, but I was already so invested in the characters and knew this was the end to the series so I decided to keep going.

I love a good horror movie or book and the deaths described in this were very imaginative and probably some of the most gruesome I've come across. So of course I thought it was awesome haha!

It was sad to see so many characters killed off, but I guess there was never a chance that they'd all survive. Just wishful thinking really.

Overall, I liked the idea of nanobots and biots when I read them in the first book. I thought it was original and really cool but I was disappointed by the next two books. Hopefully the "Gone" series is better.

I came very close to not finishing this book. But by this point, I was already very invested in the characters. But the world building? It just wasn't for me.

In this third installment of the BZRK trilogy, things are even crazier than in the second. In the aftermath of the destruction of "the Doll Ship" the Armstrong Twins are set on revenge. Sadie - "Plath" - has been elevated to leader of the BZRK group after Vincent lost most of his sanity after one of his biots was destroyed.

And suddenly, we're introduced to a new player - Lystra Read - and a seemingly new game.

It was hard to keep up with. I couldn't tell who was who (though I did figure out the big reveal before it was revealed) or what was happening in some instances.

And the ending? Well it was disappointing, to say the least.

I like my books where the bad guy is the bad guy and the good guy is the good guy. There may be some shades of gray mixed in, but in this series it's so mixed up it's grayer than gray.

2.5 stars?

This one was so bleak. And I know the series as a whole is all "death or madness," and I never expected a happy ending, but this is so hopeless. Lear as a brand-new character with no real motivation that I could discern. So many awful deaths. A seeming total deviation from the purpose of the first couple books. Basically just a world going mad.

The book is written so outstandingly well. There are some amazing twists, and so much I didn't see coming. I just think those things were introduced too late.

Overall the series was okay. I wasn't as into it as I was his Gone series (every book 5 stars!!!) but it is what it is. I can't believe how much killing goes on in this book but honestly after a while it felt like he was killing people off to get to the end faster. I know towards 3/4 the book I was anxious for it to just end. Once it did it felt flat....not exciting, no twist I didn't think of...like it just ended. I hope he writes more in the future bc Grant has an amazing imagination, but if it's sci fi I'll probably pass. I enjoy his other stuff much more than his sci fi.
