This is an art book that keeps on giving - letters are formed from animals, everyday objects, or landscape features like trees or clouds... but the more you look, and the more you learn about art, the more you'll see. Insects invoke the early scientific illustrator Mary Sybilla Meriam - the waves on the cover reference Hokusai. At a stretch, you can see Donald Judd, Escher, all manner of medieval manuscripts, and that guy whose standing steel sculptures killed a man at the Walker once. Richard Serra? Richard Serra.

Anyway. This ABC book is a much safer way to start conversations about art with little kids.
