I see why this is so many people's favorites!! I liked 'Alice's Adventures' much more than 'Through the Looking Glass' ... the second one was a bit exhausting to keep up with.

Unterdessen zählt "Alice in Wonderland" zu meinen meistgelesenen Titeln und zu meinen liebsten Büchern überhaupt. Jedes Mal, wenn ich die Bücher mit Alice aufs Neue lese, verliebe ich mich etwas mehr. Ich liebe Carrolls Welt und die Art, wie sich Alice neugierig, naiv und etwas verwöhnt durch diese Welten schlägt. Sie akzeptiert die Welten einfach so wie sie sind, im Gegensatz zu einem erwachsenen Besucher, der von Natur aus alles bewertet. Dieses Mal habe ich die beiden Werke zum ersten Mal auf Englisch gelesen und nachdem ich so viel Neues entdeckt habe, werde ich sie wohl nicht mehr auf Deutsch lesen. Zu viel vom Sprachwitz Carrolls geht verloren, es sind ganz andere Bücher! Auch die Wortneuschöpfungen sind genial und zeigen, was für ein Sprachgefühl Carroll hat. Ich freue mich schon auf die nächste Reise ins Wunderland!
