Another book that took me a few attempts to finish. I did like it, it's very creative and there are so many different interesting little sub-stories in this book while we accompany Bod throughout his life on the graveyard. The story got pretty dark at times and did a good job at never letting the reader forget that there's a threat out there for Bod.
Sadly, it never really sucked me in, I never really felt connected to the story and the characters.

What a masterpiece. The writing is fantastic. There's so many memorable quotes and passages. The characterization is vivid and feels genuine, and it's easy to get invested in the relationships between characters. I loved the relationship between Bod and Silas, especially.

I also loved seeing all the different art styles. Each brought something different to the table, almost as if seeing different aspects of the characters' personalities, or seeing an artistic portrayal of Bod's shifting view of the world as he grows up. But all of the art styles managed to stay consistent in portraying tone and atmosphere, and they weren't so completely different as to throw me off.

This book is poignant and heart-wrenching and had me invested right from the start. I've never read the original (non-graphic-novel) version of it, but now I just might have to. Why have I not gotten around to reading this book sooner? Definitely worth the read. Highly recommend.

Decided to pick up the novel instead. Will probably read it someday in the future but I want to experience Neil Gaiman’s masterful writing before diving into the graphic novel.

Easy 4.5 stars.

Neil Gaiman writes characters in a way that even though you don't spend a long time with them,
SpoilerI'm still sobbing about a boy leaving the graveyard he grew up in behind and no longer being able to see the ghost family that raised him,
and how dare he do that to me.

I remember loving the novel when I read this years ago, and I'm glad I finally got around to reading the graphic novel version. It was a nice way to revisit the story in a new format.
