Complemented itself greatly to reading aloud; beautiful and intricate.

A lot of this was just hard to read, although parts of it were as delightful as the poem that made me want to read more Moore (which, now I think of it, I don't remember seeing in this book, which was odd).

Description of plants and animals is not my favourite thing to read in poetry.

Love the critical work in this compilation, including the various forms in which these poems published. A fantastic critical edition.

Moore was a challenging poet to get used to, but once I did, I pretty much couldn't stop. My favorite poems were "A Grave" and "What are years?" They were fantastic.

The poet as creature adapted to her environment by producing a strange and beautiful exoskeleton out of the flotsam of life, pulling from casual and not-so-casual reading, baseball, ecology, and literary history; modernism as a highly refined technology of the self. If some poems are so specific as to be incomprehensible in the present (hinging on a particular talk-of-the-town-type article from that week, say) so be it: Moore's sly undermining of literary arrogance requires it.

So dense, so brilliant. Reading her makes me feel glad and stupid. This was just an initial lap through her Collected...definitely a book to revisit.
