Everything about this book is vapid and shallow. Maybe if you're incredibly vapid and shallow yourself you could like it. I'm not, so I don't.

This book just wasn't that great for me. It's a shame cause I had been wanting to read it for so long. I will still read the sequel and I hope that its better than this one.

Vamped is a quick and exciting read. It kept me at entertained cover-to-cover. As soon as I started I had to finish (yeah I really read it all in one shot). The main character, Gina Covello, has a thing for taking well-known phrases and making them her own ("It seemed a crappy thing to do, but love, war and all that....I couldn't worry too much when it was kill or be killed.") The only bad part of this novel the ending, well the last two line. After so much excitment Diver decides to end the novel with, "Let me ask you one thing, Agent X. Does this gig come with a clothing allowance?" Okay I know Gina was previously a snob but the ending made me want to punch Diver in the nose.

Gina Covello wakes up in a coffin after she dies in an accident. To her horror she realizes she is a Vampire and the boy who made her one, Bobby, is one of the geeks turned dashing and handsome vampire too. Bobby is kidnapped by Mellisande and Gina is sent to a dungeon like place where she finds many of her classmates, apparently turned into vampires too.
Now Gina has to discover Mellisande’s purpose in building a teenage vampire army. And also why Bobby is singled out by her? What exactly does Mellisande want?
Gina is such a likable vamp. She cares about her manicure, brands, her hair, but yes, she also has a conscience which makes for interesting conversations with herself.
This book was so much fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author, Lucienne Diver, has a sarcastic and snarky sense of humor and a very fresh voice.
If you want to read a chic, cool and fun vampire story, you should definitely read this one. If you want to read something different than the hordes of dark vampire books, Vamped is definitely it.
The only problem with the book was that the action was a little difficult to follow at times. As there is one POV to the story, Gina’s, the reader is left as confused and in the dark as Gina is. You kind of discover and understand what’s going on along with Gina. The end is open ended so I am guessing there is a sequel? I have read this book being compared to Buffy, but I wouldn’t know as I haven’t seen a single episode yet. Sad, I know.
If you like Young Adult or Chicklit, this book is definitely for you. Vamped could be a perfect beach read.
One of the passages just to give you an example of the writing style:
Superhuman strength or no, by the time I broke through to the surface, my manicure was totally shot, my nails were split, and I was covered in dirt. And I mean covered. I was about to wig out when I realized just what I was brushing off-and one shock kind of cancelled out the other. My parents had me buried me in a truly heinous dress of white eyelet, which made me look like a stylistically challenged child bride. I had a vague repressed memory of being forced to wear it to my first communion years ago and marveled that it still fit. Not that I’d grown out, except for, you know, up top. Sadly, I hadn’t done much growing up either; I’d maxed out at, like, five foot nothing. Anyway, if anything deserved to be covered in grave dust, it was this old rag.

After Gina wakes, and is forced to claw her way out of her grave, she knows something is off. This is confirmed after she is greeted by Bobby, a geek-turned-vampire, who tells her that she's a vampire, too. One mistake on prom night, and she's now the undead. After being abducted, she is a forced to live in a dorm setting with her other classmates (who have also been vamped). That's when the trouble really begins.
This book has been called "Clueless meets Buffy", and it doesn't disappoint. Gina acts a lot like Cher, except less clueless, and more undead. At first Gina seems like a typical "popular" teen girl. She's a fashionista who concentrates on her looks (which is pretty hard to do with no reflection). When it's necessary, however, she is able to take control, and lead everyone against some of the less savory characters (without giving too much away). That's why I connected with her character. In high school I acted fairly immature most of the time, but certain situations required me to take charge, and act like an adult.
I loved that this vampire novel was completely different from a lot of the other ones being published. Instead of dark, angst-ridden vampires, there was a bubbly heroine. Even the villains were fun in a love-to-hate way (well, except for a certain psychic). I had a lot of fun reading it, which I can't say for some of the "comedy" novels I've read in the past. Overall, I can't wait for the sequel, and more Bobby!

Seems to be trying for a sort of Clueless-with vampires, but falls flat. Occasionally funny, mostly bloodless (ha), because of a complete lack of character development.

It was an okay read. I'm not one for the popular-clique-I-get-all-the-attention-all-the-time kind of girls like Guns, and in the beginning, she really annoyed me. But her character started to grow on me, and while this book was too quickly paced and left too much of what was going on out, it started getting better and turned out as an okay book. I'd recommend it to people who love superficial heroines, clique novels, and Twilight.
