I'd planned to finish this over the weekend, but life happened. Anyway. It was a 3 star read up until the 60% mark, I'd say. Both characters were annoying me and I was kinda stuck with them just like they were stuck with each other. And then the real suspense began! I didn't expect the gory details from Stephanie Perkins, but it was a welcome surprise. I'm pretty bad at visualizing and I'd forget who was who after every chapter... that's on me though.

I don’t even know what to say. it’s definitely not what I expected, but i can’t really define if it’s better or worse. it’s just different. whenever i thought that nothing else could happen, something else happened. this book was wild and definitely didn’t disappoint. i only wish it had a content warning, because some things were a bit disturbing so just be ready for anything. though i think that even if you thought you are prepared, you really wouldn’t be.

There was a certain point where the book stopped making any sense and I was just kind of over it

not that i ever would have done so before, but this is 99% of the motivation i need to never go camping. like ever. is it bad that the descriptions of sleeping in a tent were as horrifying as the actual horror segments??

This book had some creepy descriptions and I enjoyed the moments of terror. However, the villains were not scary at all, and their dialogue was laughable. There also wasn’t any reasoning given about why they were doing what they were doing. No motive at all. The pacing was too slow and the first half of this book was just hiking and arguments between the main characters. Their friendship was not believable and I didn’t feel their connection. Disappointing to say the least.

If I could have given this one 3.5 stars I would have, it was a good book, interesting plot, it just seemed kind of oddly paced, I might try it again, who knows in a different head space I may rate it higher.

Nothing happens in the first half and then it all happens too fast.

I’ve been reading Stephanie Perkins books for nearly a decade, I own physical copies of all her other books, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of her last horror outing so I thought I’d give the audiobook a try…the narrating voice was good, but that’s where the positives stop for me. Why were these girls even friends? It went on and on with them bickering about the smallest things. It went at a snails pace and then at least half way through, it got to the action that was fairly ridiculous and then it just kind of gets neatly tied together with a bow.
