One of my favorites from Janelle Daniels! The Destined Duchess is the perfect ending to The Book Club series! A wonderful romance that takes the reader back to the Regency period. Rory and Alaric are perfect for each other, but unfortunately things aren't what they seem. This was definitely one of my favorites by Janelle Daniels so far, and that says a lot to anyone who knows how much I love her other series!

This was OK. I enjoyed the premise but there were some areas that could have benefitted from more details.

If you follow my reviews, then you know that I prefer a lot more culture clash in my time travel stories. The author pretty much removed that by having our heroine Rory go through intensive two-week training on Regency etiquette and such before she had to be out in society. She barely put a foot wrong, which is a relief in real life but not very exciting in a story.

I also didn't really understand why Rory needed to impersonate the American heiress Penelope. The mother stated that she wanted Penelope to collect multiple marriage offers from different men, but to what purpose? Why not zero in on the most desirable man first and then work your way down?

Once Penelope's mother showed up at the house party where Rory was sent to take her daughter's place, the mother immediately started screaming, "Imposter!" She had barely been there five minutes so how did she know that Rory was starting to have feelings for the duke? Didn't she want Rory to cozy up to the duke to lock down that marriage proposal? The whole setup reflects poorly on Penelope and her mother, as well, because the duke figured out right away that Rory couldn't have pulled this off by herself. I just can't figure out what they thought they would gain from this scheme.

This appears to be the last book of The Book Club multi-author series because our heroine was the last to find her hero, but the door was left open to continue the series. I've read most of the books and I would say that they are low-angst and quick reads. They aren't my first choice, but they are something non-challenging to read when I have a little time.
