I'm so conflicted with this book!!
I have literally no idea how to rate it lol.
There were moments that had me MESMERIZED and on the edge of my seat dying to know what happens next. And there were also moments that had me bored to tears asking myself: "is this book over yet??!"
So in order to solve this conundrum, I will resort to using the CAWPILE rating system developed by G at BookRoast. See below for what I mean!
C-characters:6.5/10
The characters in this book are EXTREMELY unique. I loved their overall designs. Court, regal vampires with a sexy edgy twist?? I'm in! Our main character, Remy Pendegast, got on my nerves a little bit in the beginning with his rouge, snarky attitude. But he grew on me by the end. I'm interested to see where these characters end up but at the same time, I don't feel a strong bond to them like I do other characters in my favorite series??
A-atmosphere: 8/10.
I loved the eerie, misty shrouded vibes of this court-based vampire vs. humans land.
W-world: 8/10
Again, love the vampire vs. humans world!
P-plot: 4.5/10
The pacing was off and I felt like the story dragged on and on for quite a while! I loved the ending though and parts of the middle.
I-intrigue: 5/10
Again, the pacing was a mixed bag for me.
L-logic: 4/10
the character names had me lost in the sauce quite a bit. I was a little confused about who was who and that ruined some of the logic for me.
Enjoyment: 6/10
Average score: 6/10= 3 stars!
