i enjoyed every single one of these essays but also none of them will stay with me beyond this reading? That's not to say the writing isn't incredible, that Chelsea Hodson doesn't have a natural talent with narrative prose, and that I won't read everything she ever produces — because i will. I just don't feel any of these were something I heavily related to. Or that I need to reread because it wasn't the right time.

Honestly it was really hard to finish. It doesn't have a point, it doesn't do anything with itself. I found myself skimming through quite a lot, i would say the last pages were veeeery boring and I already knew I would feel unsatisfied after finishing. I actually highlighted some parts either because they were relatable or because the wording was pretty, but honestly you can use your time better. Maybe the best way to describe it is a collection of phrases would make very artsy poetic t shirts.

This book found me at the perfect time in college: recently dumped, seeking The Point Of It All (read: romance), yearning for Something Better, and interested in essays. Exceeded my expectations and comforted me more than I anticipated. Proceeded to recommend it to all my other friends who'd been, coincidentally, recently dumped as well. A perfect storm.
