I have truly enjoyed all of Kiersten Modglin books that I have read and quickly going through her catalog. Another great one!

"I Said Yes," by Kiersten Modglin was an engaging read which held my interest to the end. It is a short read for a novel, only 203 pages. The story is primarily told from the first person point of view of Hannah, the wife. There are a few chapters from "Mark's" point of view, but very few. I disliked the chronology of the book. We read in the first two chapters that a murder has occurred and both "Mark" and Hannah know who the murderer is. But then the author fills in the back story for the next 150 pages (remember there are only 203 pages in the entire book), so it feels as if she has dropped the murder and moved on to fill us in on what happened prior to the murder. I understand flashbacks and filling in past details, but to do so for 150 pages seemed excessive.

Overall, I did like the story, but can only give it 3 stars, as explained next. My primary objection to the book is a gimmick the author uses regarding a character's name. We think a character is one person, when in fact, they are someone else because the same name is used for both characters. This is deliberately done by the author to confuse the reader and heighten the suspense. But for me, I felt cheated when I discovered the truth. I read a book a couple of years ago that used the same gimmick. I didn't like it then and I don't like it in this book. I won't reveal it here, so as not to provide a spoiler, but it left me frustrated and disappointed.

It is worth a read and it is a quick read. I read it in less than 24 hours and I am not the fastest reader around. There are very few characters, mostly Mark and Hannah. The other characters play little or no significant role, other than one.

Huh? Not sure if I'm more confused over the hype over a mediocre domestic thriller or the mediocrity itself.

This was a fast-paced and suspenseful read that kept me turning the pages. The writing isn't anything to shout about and there's more telling than showing, but I enjoyed how bingeable and readable it was. I also loved how the book highlights the greyness and victim-blaming in sexual assault. Then it all falls apart in the third act.

The 'twist' felt like a cop-off and had me rolling my eyes. Everything just went in a very ridiculous direction. The ending was super abrupt, almost as if the author got tired of her own story and decided to call it quits. I should have called it quits by not buying this book at all.

Another winner by Kmod! A quick and twisty read!

I read the audiobook as well as the kindle version and found the readers enjoyable & entertaining. This wasn't my favorite Modglin novel yet. The ending fell a bit flat for me, but it's probably because I was just expecting 1 last, crazy twist, which Modglin is known for. I still couldn't put this down!

Another single day read from Kiersten Modglin. This one is a domestic whodunit thriller and it is a lot darker than some of her other books. It also has a shocking twist at the end, but it wasn't that impactful for me. This is evident from the fact that I had to re-read the ending to write this review. It has only been a week since I read this so I should have remembered the ending, but I didn't. I'll give some leniency because I do read a lot of books and if I don't write the review right away I do tend to forget because I've already moved on and read several books since then.

Nevertheless, I am a big fan of Kiersten Modglin's books and I have yet to read one that I didn't enjoy.

This was a heavy book. The content was pretty deep. But it was well written and the twist was well executed. I enjoyed this one! #isaidyes #kierstenmodglin #read #bookstagram
