Ik begrijp wat Salinger hier probeerde te doen en waarom velen dit als een klassieker zien, maar mij laat het onverschillig.

ok so this book was so good! But I honestly hate Holden! He's full of himself and he's given these opportunities over and over again to do well in school and he just continues to not care. He has no reason to have flunked out of class. But I'm also very MAD ABOUT THE ENDING BECAUSE WE NEVER MET JANE OR HIS PARENTS AND IT WAS SERIOUSLY LIKE AG. BUT ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT HES IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL AND WE ONLY GET A SENTENCE ABOUT THAT?!? LIKE I NEED MORE TO EXPLAIN THE REASON FOR THAT!!

If there's something I've learnt from The Catcher in the Rye, that's vocabulary, I've to admit it. I had a lousy one before -and that depressed me, if you want to know the truth.
I'd hate to sound phony, but -boy!- most of the goddam book was corny as hell. That killed me.
Call me a madman.
