"I don't care what she is. Grown don't mean a thing to a mother. A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown? What's that supposed to mean? In my heart it don't mean a thing."

This is the first book I read for the #10books10decades challenge this year. I am trying to stick to horror books, and I was shocked when I saw this on some lists of horror books by women. However, upon reading it, I am not surprised. This book is quintessential horror. It illustrates human torment and pain. Then you add in a ghost, and it really does fit well in the horror genre.

I have now read two books by Morrison, and while I am still intimated, I don't think I'll wait as long to pick up another. Because her stories just have so much thought behind them. It's like she placed each sentence with care, knowing it needed to serve a purpose.

I say this with all seriousness, if you haven't listened to one of her books on audio, read by her, you are missing out. Just laying in bed, listening to her soothing voice read you a story is an experience. It's the best way to go to sleep.

I know this isn't much of a review, but more eloquent people than me have already given great reviews on this, and y'all already know it's good.
