This was a quick, romantic read that has been sitting on my TBR pile for a while now. It is a prequel to the author's MacLomain series that I read to prepare for the latest novel that the author was kind enough to gift to me. I had higher hopes for the book, but once I finished it, I was left with many unanswered questions that ultimately detracted from my enjoyment of the story. I'm hoping that the author's Early Years series might answer those questions, but for the time being, I think this book was interesting enough to continue with the series.

I really enjoy these stories. It's been a minute since I'd read The MacLomains: Early Years, but I was able to pick this prequel to the next series up and dive in with no issues. I get so caught up in the books and I can't wait to read the next in the series.
