Wow, Leah Johnson. I don’t know how you managed to wrap so many difficult topics into just 320 pages and yet keep the romance between Toni and Olivia sweet and wholesome, but you did it! 🎡🎶🎸

I really enjoyed this novel. Toni and Olivia's relationship develops quickly but sweetly. I like how they are able to help each other grow. I also like the side relationship of Peter and Imani and the way everything gets revealed. Johnson's writing is just fantastic, and I look forward to her future YA novels.

This book has extreme insta-love, and the main character is a horrible bestfriend. Justice for Imani!!!

Not as good as rise to the sun for me, but still worth a read! Tackled all of its tough issues very well but
I found it really unbelievable that everyone would forgive toni that quickly and especially Olivia forgiving her without them having a real conversation about it. Ending with Festie Frankie was also weird and didn’t feel like as strong of a conclusion

A cute queer romance told from the perspective of the two main characters. The story takes place in the span of a weekend but with several flashbacks. At times it was a slow read, and I could’ve used more details in the flashback’s but overall I enjoyed this story.

This was so cute! Loved this face-paced sweet read. Olivia was definitely my favorite character and I so appreciated the author's representation of the complexities of her personality. I related to her a lot and I just loved how she talked about her feelings. I also loved the honesty that was so apparent in this books representation of PTSD, sexual assault/revenge porn, and abandonment issues. It is hard to unpack all of those things in a book that only takes place over 3 days, but Johnson totally did it well. I also loved Peter's character, he was so lovable and goofy.
