Okay, miss Tessa Dare. You got me. I'm properly enamored. I'm enchanted. I'm all your fancy 1800's words for IN-LOVE
this book was so cute!!! I can't believe I've let the covers and genre deter me for so long (looking at you, internalized misogyny). Historical romance is such a joy (sometimes....)
Chase, an unredeemable rake, meets Alexandra, an aspiring astronomer and clocksetter in a bookstore in November. The next summer, by happenstance and a chance encounter with the river Thames, Alexandra is in need of employment and Chase is in desperate need of a governess for his troublesome, intelligent young wards. Chaos and cuteness ensues afterward.
This is by far my favorite of Tessa Dare's books that I have read. In fairness, I've only read 3. But this takes the cake. I'm not sure if I've fully forgiven her for the last book of hers that I had to DNF (I dropped it so quickly, I don't even remember what it's called), but this book was such a joy, I might be willing to overlook the previous one.
I loved it. If you love cuteness and witty banter and two adorable wards and astronomy and pirates and two legged dogs and clocks and-

This was cute and I enjoyed that the heroine was Filipina, but it didn't do much for me otherwise.

Why don’t I hear more people talk about how Alexandra is a biracial Filipina? HELLO??? A strong, sassy, passionate Filipina romance novel heroine? Why hasn’t anyone else mentioned this?
I love her!

Delightful!
So good! Even better then the first in the series, The Duchess Deal. This should be a insta-read for any historical romance fan.
