I really enjoyed this story! It was well written with wonderful characters, lots of credible conflict, and an original plot. My one disappointment was that I never fully believed the hero's love for the heroine. He resented her so much he publicly humiliated her on their wedding night, spent six years in Ireland, and comes home declaring he's in love with her. How? When? What made him change his mind so dramatically? It's never really made clear if he was attracted to her before their wedding or if some major incident in Ireland caused this awareness. Despite that flaw, it's a well told tale with much to recommend it!

Despite the clothing and overall image on the cover, this is a late-medieval romance about saving a marriage. Rose was smart and had a good sense of leadership and management. Thomas was contrite about his dumb actions six years ago, but his apologies seemed hollow until the end. Of course Rose had to rescue Thomas from her father's schemes; Thomas is definitely a follower. A quick read to pass an afternoon.
