This book was so good omg! This has to be one of the only high school romances i’ve read where the characters feel 3D and realistic to actual teenagers. The things Shannon goes through in this book made this story so emotional and I can’t explain enough how much I loved her character!

3.5 stars. I have SUCH conflicting thoughts about this book.
The bus ride, the HOSPITAL SCENE, the game and the end omg. Not happy end but a good one and a necessary end for the story. The hospital scene was so very really cute with Johnny saying all his drugged up stuff. I really like the premise of this book and the characters are cute together. The side characters were very fleshed out (excited for Gibsie and Claire’s book) and they added a lot of personality. Loved Johnny’s mom. Like I did eat this book up in 4 days.
However I COULD NOT with the she’s small, has blue eyes, he’s big with a big male chest she crashes into. Each conversation/scene is too long where there’s the same conversations with the same stuff over and over and the same inner monologue (which is why book is so long). The beginning chunk gives us lots is explanations of why Shannon and Johnny are the way they are but they still have the exact same feelings and actions 90% of the way through. The character arc is so so slow and that makes the characters kinda unlikeable because they don’t have any growth from their annoying/self-deprecating thoughts. Like her saying sorry and I’m okay and running away a gajillion times was PAINFUL! And I cannot with her locking herself in the bathroom very painful cringe.
