I NEED MORE!!!!! I need to know everything that happens after this story!! I actually think this could be the most disturbing King book I've read as the imagery was too realistic for me and just the overall concept is soo terrifying! Knocked off a 0.25 star just because that ending was too abrupt for me. Also definitely believe garraty and mcvries were in love x

It was a really nice book to pass the time and I really like how well written it is. What I didn’t like the most was the ending, was quite boring but still a great book

One of the most haunting and troubled of King's stories, originally published as pseudonym Richard Bachman. It will hit parts of your soul you didn't know were there. Some of his best work.

All in all, The Long Walk is truly outstanding. Take one simple premise, and follow that premise through to the hilt with humour, horror and compelling pathos. I truly loved and enjoyed this book. The aspect I liked the most is how King has you walking that road with them. You can feel every heavy step, you can feel your legs becoming lead-like, it’s a task to keep putting one foot in front of the other. The Long Walk makes you grateful to be alive. A story that is so depressingly dark it verges on hopelessness. Being a King fan, was refreshing surprise reading his dystopian speculative fiction rather than his supernatural horror.

I understand that the entire book is a metaphor (for life, for war) but I was still hoping that at some point along, we would get an explanation of why this competition was happening in this society, why the boys all volunteered… The question of “why” was always lingering, distracting from the emotional, physical, and psychological warfare happening to the participants on every page. This book is heavy in topic–boys are dying left and right–but it also felt empty because its entire universe was muddled in vagueness.
