This is Japanese mythology, side quests, and morals all wrapped into one bloody book and i LOVED it. A little slow for me to get into for some reason, but it took off and I can't wait to get into the rest of the series

Ok this book surprised me!!! If you want to wait for my review go ahead because it’s so good you will have to wait a bit for the second book and I hate waiting!! I need to know what happens to my Gil!! I will be updating my review with my Vlogg once my Vlogg is up on YouTube in 2019!! Thank you Netgally and Publisher for an ARC of this book for an honest review!!

Loved the worldbuilding, I was easily able to understand everything that was going on despite knowing almost nothing about Japanese mythology.

Plot was too predictable for my taste though. Might continue the series one day

I liked this book, but I didn't love it. The jury is still out on whether or not I'm going to continue reading the Shadow of the Fox series as future books are released.

My Rating/Score: 3 out of 5 Stars on Goodreads. 6 out of 10 on my own scoring system.

Took a hundred pages or so to get into the rhythm and language. Easy to follow once I caught on.
A ragtag group travel to the Sin City to seek directions to a hidden temple. They are watched by a concubine of the Emperor who sends several challenges.
Well written. Begging was slow but picked up.
Excellent ending and gateway to next book.
